Pancakes are not the only things that rotate in this kitchen.
You don’t have to be Simone Biles to pull off a sizzling floor routine, as one Canadian mum proved by performing some epic gymnastics moves in her kitchen – delighting more than 22 million viewers who have already watched her decide “ the wheel”. in “rollok” on social networks.
“I just rolled out the rug and put on my bathing suit. And I was like, ‘Let’s go,'” Breanne Allarie told Today about her DIY show, posted on Instagram.
The mother of two from Vancouver had been watching clips of the Olympics with her husband Jordan and wondered if she could replicate the athletic maneuvers at home.
“I’ve always been the type of person that if I see something, I’m like, ‘I can probably do that.’ I could try it myself,’” Allarie explained. “So I raised my kids’ carpet and just started making some tricks.”
The resulting clip, filmed by her boyfriend, shows the amateur acrobat attempting various high-flying stunts, including a handstand, key jump and Shushunova.
The last move, named after the late Soviet gymnast Yelena Shushunova, is essentially a land belly drop.
“This is where I jump in the air and you pretty much sit down,” Allarie explained. “Everybody said, ‘Why are you doing a sit-up?’ But it’s actually a legitimate gymnastic move.”
Viewers on Instagram were impressed by the independent Olympian’s performance with one fan writing, “ngl the key split was pretty impressive.”
Paris called. The USA Gymnastics team alternate sprained her toe…YOU’RE UP,” said another.
While Allarie’s routine was certainly admirable, she admitted on Instagram that Olympic-level gymnasts “make it look a lot easier than it is.”
That said, the Canuck is no slouch in the acrobatics department.
“I was in intense competitive gymnastics until I was about 14,” Allarie said. “At first I really wanted to go to the Olympic Games. And then as I got older I was like, ‘OK, maybe not the Olympics, but a full travel scholarship.’ That was the goal.”
Unfortunately, the content creator’s dreams of gymnastics glory were dashed after she broke her back while performing a “tumble pass” in a competition.
After recovering from the gruesome injury, Allarie began dancing, eventually turning professional.
And while she stopped performing after her children were born, the Vancouverite still enjoys performing for her 290,000+ Instagram followers.
Allarie said many commenters called her “brave” for wearing a swimsuit during her kitchen routine.
“I think it’s just about me being me,” she said. “And the world can either take it or leave it.”
